AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Power Hour helps MVBGC members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring, and high-yield learning activities and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.
When they finish their work, they may choose to participate in a variety of other engaging and educational activities to further develop their skills.
Power Hour is a great opportunity for kids and teens to get their homework completed in a quiet place with support from trained, caring staff at MVBGC.

Project Learn reinforces the academic enrichment and school engagement of young people during their time at MVBGC.
Students do much better in school when they spend their non-school hours engaged in fun, but academically beneficial, activities. Through Project Learn, MVBGC staff use all the areas and programs in the Club to create opportunities for these high-yield learning activities, including leisure reading, writing activities, discussions with knowledgeable adults, helping others, homework help, tutoring and games that develop their cognitive skills.

The Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club is committed to providing programs, experiences, and initiatives that allow all island youth to express themselves and build connections with others in the community. MVBGC art programs provide members with opportunities for creative exploration across a diverse range of categories. Our art instructor provides a wide-range of art projects that can reach different age groups and abilities. Whether it be through visual or digital arts, performance, illustration, and so much more.
The art room has diverse program offerings everyday from 2:40 – 5:30 that are offered for all ages.

Triple Play: A Game Plan for Mind, Body & Soul - This program has impacted over 14.4 million young people by emphasizing physical activity and nutrition across its three components: Healthy Habits (mind), Daily Challenges (body), and Social Recreation (soul).
Triple Play aims to nurture whole-child health, equipping youth with diverse knowledge and skills to navigate life's challenges and thrive. Participants report significant improvements in physical activity, eating habits, and peer relationships, all contributing to better long-term health outcomes. Given the profound influence of Social Determinants of Health—like one's environment on development and health—it's crucial for adolescents to develop resilience against adverse conditions and seize opportunities for positive change.
The gymnasium has diverse program offerings everyday from 2:40 pm – 5:30 pm. This consists of both organized and free-play activities for all ages.

NBA Math Hoops is a dynamic community program that combines a basketball board game, mobile app, and curriculum to help students learn fundamental math skills through basketball. Aligned with Common Core State Standards and 21st Century Learning Skills, the program has proven effective in enhancing students' foundational math abilities and social-emotional skills..
The gymnasium has diverse program offerings everyday Friday, 5:00 – 5:45 pm. This consists of both organized and free-play activities for all ages.

·STEAM = STEM + the Arts.
STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, and we add the Arts to bring in creativity, design, and self-expression. Our MVBGC STEAM program encourages members to go beyond basic technology use by learning hands-on, taking thoughtful risks, collaborating with others, and persisting through challenges as they work through the creative process to strengthen their ideas.
STEAM Club: Tuesdays & Fridays, 4:00–5:30 PM

Every student deserves the opportunity to do well in school, to build a foundation for a prosperous future. To ensure all young people have equal access to a great future, it is essential we bridge the education achievement gap in our country.
It offers hundreds of project-based learning activities across STEAM (STEM + the Arts—creativity and design), leadership, visual arts, and more—so youth can explore interests, create projects, and build skills for school and the future.
