CLUB HISTORY:
The Martha's Vineyard Boys & Girls Club
began its existence as the Edgartown Boys Club in 1935. The original
Club was located on School Street in downtown
Edgartown, where it remained for forty-two years as a boys only club. In
1977 the
Club moved into its present location behind the Edgartown School. In 1982 the Club became gender inclusive,
changing in name to the Edgartown Boys & Girls Club, and allowing
girls to now become members. The name was again changed in 1885 to the
current, Martha's Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, allowing children
Island-wide to attend.
